Overview of Research Group

Sustainablilty is the core to Environmental Science and Engineering. Bioenergy systems present an ideal example of valuable resource recovery from liquid wastes, leading to sustainable energy source while simultaneously providing wastewater treatment and finished indirect potable water for reuse. Our research group achieves this by engineering mictobial ecological interactions that perform these duties, in combination with sound engineering practice.

We apply our knowledge to engineered bioreactor systems such as:

1. Microbial Electrochemical Cells

2. Anaerobic Membrane Bioreactors

3. Selective Fermentation

4.Corrosion Testing of MSE Walls

5. Anaerobic Co-digestion

All these concepts resonate with needs of Food-Energy-Water Nexus
